Nate Palmer
Master’s Level Social Work Intern

406-633-1547

My name is Nathaniel A. Palmer, and I was born and raised in Billings, Montana. I graduated from high school and then joined the US Army as a Behavioral Health Specialist. When asked why I wanted to take that job, I answered that I wanted to help people, and I have always been good at working with challenging emotions and situations that many people find uncomfortable.

I was injured and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury in Afghanistan, where I served for a year. I then left the Army and did different odd and end Jobs for a few years while I worked through PTSD and TBI. Through my own healing process, I have developed skills to help myself and others do better. I started working as a case manager for the Pact team at the Mental Health Center in Billings. Afterwards, I attended Montana State University Billings and completed my bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Rehabilitation. After graduating, I worked as a substance abuse and addiction counselor for four years.

Currently, I am pursuing my master’s in social work degree at Walla Walla University and plan to graduate in July 2026. In the past year, I have learned how to provide cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and child-parent psychotherapy (CPP). Additionally, I have studied child development with a focus on attachment theory, which I have found to be very helpful in working with youth.

If you're interested in collaborating to develop new skills that boost your confidence in handling life's stressors, please don't hesitate to call me. We will work together to reach your goals and develop new skills that will help you through life's challenges.

Nate is able to provide counseling to children, adolescents, and adults.
