Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy involves treating trauma that is held in the body. The body will hold onto unresolved emotions and stressful events which often cause physical impairments and pain in the body.
An example of an emotional trauma is witnessing a loved one’s painful death.
A person may hold this trauma in the body, which can lead to chronic pain or other health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
An example of how physical trauma is held in the body is when a person is involved in an automobile accident. The person may experience a back injury.
After the physical injury heals, the person continues to experience unexplained pain at or near the injury site.
Somatic therapy intervenes to help the person release the attached emotional trauma from the body, thereby creating healing in the individual.
Análaigh Heals offers three types of somatic healing:
Cranial Sacral Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Mindfulness-Based Breathing Techniques That Release Trauma
We use these somatic therapies in conjunction with more conventional therapeutic treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, for a whole-person approach to treatment.
